Two Floors, One Rooftop, Zero Bad Nights

Live music, handcrafted cocktails, and better-than-bar food on Glenwood South in Raleigh.

About Us

The exterior of Tin Roof bar with a lively atmosphere at night.

On Glenwood South, Raleigh's most electric stretch of nightlife, Tin Roof runs on two levels of energy and one open-sky rooftop patio. Bands take the stage, DJs push the night forward, and the crowd that shows up Tuesday through Sunday comes ready for all of it. With a 4.1-star rating across nearly 800 reviews, this place earns its reputation one great night at a time.

The staff sets the tone here. Regulars consistently point to bartenders and managers who treat every guest like they were expected, not just tolerated. Drinks are handcrafted and taken seriously, and the food menu goes by the name Better Than Bar Food for a reason. It is not an afterthought.

Whether a live band is headlining or a DJ is closing out a Friday, Tin Roof Raleigh delivers the kind of night that makes Glenwood South worth the trip. Private parties and group events fill the calendar alongside the regular programming, so there is almost always something happening here.

What We Offer

Tin Roof anchors its identity around live music, booking both local acts and touring bands on a regular basis. DJs keep the energy up between sets and on nights without a full band, so the sound never stops.

The bar program goes deep on handcrafted cocktails, and the kitchen backs it up with a food menu built to hold its own. The rooftop patio adds an outdoor dimension that most Glenwood South bars cannot match, giving guests a skyline backdrop to go with their drinks.

For groups, private parties and group events are a core part of what Tin Roof does. The two-level layout gives event organizers real flexibility. Combine that with a full bar, a kitchen, and built-in entertainment, and it is one of the more complete event venues in downtown Raleigh.

Why Choose Us

Two full levels plus a rooftop patio give every night a different feel and a different view.

Live bands and DJs rotate regularly, so the entertainment calendar stays fresh week after week.

Handcrafted cocktails and a 'Better Than Bar Food' menu mean you never have to choose between a good drink and a good meal.

Nearly 800 Google reviews averaging 4.1 stars reflect consistently strong service from staff and management.

Private party and group event bookings are a specialty, with the venue's layout built to accommodate them.

Located on Glenwood South at 300 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh's most concentrated nightlife corridor puts everything within walking distance.

"Went to watch Stealing Tonight on 6/27. Drinks were great, if you like espresso martinis you should definitely order the espresso on the rocks! The food was delicious and bartenders and wait staff were awesome. Will definitely go back again."

"My friends and I stopped by the Tin Roof on our night out just to check the place out, regroup and have a drink before we moved onto the next. I ordered a single vodka and cranberry juice. I had already paid for the drink and upon tasting it, I found there to be little to no vodka in it at all (two of my friends tasted for conformation). For $9 dollars, I wanted there to be alcohol present in my drink. My friend who's a bit more outgoing than I helped flag down the bartender who made my drink (upon which several other bartenders took notice as well) and told them my drink was weak, tasteless and that we simply wanted a refund, and they could take the drink and dump it if they wanted. One of the bartenders was immediately defensive and agitated, insisting there was likely nothing wrong with the drink and that they couldn’t take it back, only add more liquor. My friend asked her to straw taste it, to which she did and insisted she could taste the alcohol (of course). While arguing with the staff, my friend mentioned that he's a bar tender to which the guy who made my drink replied "Well, bartenders are more likely to be alcoholics"... Calling your patrons alcoholics because they dare to complain about your poor service is appalling. The woman did end up putting a splash of vodka in the top of my cup, which I thanked her for (if only to get them all to calm down and for us to exit this confrontation). Will not be returning for overpriced, watered down drinks and terrible, argumentative bartenders. Very unprofessional."

"Great spot for live music and a fun night out. Local bands play here regularly and the sound is good. The drink specials keep things affordable. The food is solid bar fare — the sliders and nachos hit the spot. The atmosphere is always energetic and friendly. The covered patio is great for warm nights. If you're looking for live music without a cover charge on most nights, Tin Roof is a reliable bet."
